Eberhard "Abe" Habel

1942 - 2016

Eberhard "Abe" Habel, 73, of Kenosha, went to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Brookside Care Center with his family at his side.

Born in Siegen, Germany, on Dec. 6, 1942, he was the son of the late Oswald and Maria (Fick) Habel. Abe came to Kenosha as a child on Jan. 28, 1953, and was educated in local schools. After high school, he went on to vocational school to become a journeyman Tool and Die Maker.

On June 5, 1965, he married Eileen Schmidt in Kenosha.

Abe worked at various places throughout his career, retiring from Andis Co. in 2013. He and his wife were also owner/operators of Advanced Ambulance Service from 1979 to 1988. He was affiliated and very active with North Shore Bible Chapel in Zion, Ill. He taught various Sunday school classes and found great joy in studying and teaching the Bible. Abe and Eileen were also foster parents for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen Habel of Kenosha; four children, Erik Habel of Georgia, Bryan (Christin) Goodman of Salem, Ore., Edward (Rosemarie) Habel of Kenosha and Ellyn Habel of Kenosha; two brothers, Berthold (Gisela) Habel of Kenosha and Theodore (Ruth) Habel of LaCrosse, Wis.; two sisters, Gertrude (Adalbert) Mueller of Kenosha and Brigitte Brinkmann of Stiltsville, Canada; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Habel; and a brother, Heinz Habel
