Ronnie and Doug Gemmell and I were best of friends until Ronnie went off to Catholic school. Ronnie was the fastest kid in our class in elementary school and a really good artist. I will always have fond memories of him.

To me Ron was a good friend through high school, we spent many a night in my basement gym lifting weights, and also scooping the loop with he and Linda and Bill Mayew, and his then girlfriend Janice Hoffman. It seemed that when Ron was not in a sport practice or event he was with Linda, they were inseparable. He was a damn good athlete, in everything he tried, his footspeed was remarkable. Talking to him at reunions 25 years later it seemed like no time had passed between us, he was always humble and honest. I know he was a skilled artist but do not know if he pursued that after high school. I was so moved by his early departure from this earth that I could not bring myself to do a tribute to him until today, I am sure many others felt the same angst, he was beloved by many.
