I always liked Jerry, a smart and funny guy. I'm sorry we lost touch after high school.
My fondest memory of him took place in Miss Erickson's 8th grade science class at Lincoln Junior High. In the course of studying oxygen and combustion and a bunch of related topics, Miss Erickson pointed and posed the question, "What would you do if a fire started in this waste basket?"
No hands went up (what's new?), and finally she asked Carol S what she would do. Searching for an answer, Carol made a far reach and said she'd take off her skirt and beat out the flames.
From the back of the room came Jerry Tappa's voice: "Does anyone have a match?"
Miss you, Jerry!
