Glad Jerry reminded me of Bill's achievements on the baseball field, we both lived on 19th Ave near Lincoln Park, with it's multiple opportunities for honing athletic skills. Last time I saw Bill he was selling cars on Sheridan Road and while we reminisced on our childhood experiences on 19th Ave he said his most memorable experience was being stung on the finger by a bee at my grandmother's house; which caused him to cry, we were four, and run home to his mother. At the exact moment that he recounted that episode of 60 years ago a bee landed on my finger and stung me. I felt I was in a twilight zone episode.
Bill was a fearless adventure seeking guy and on graduation night he and I and Ron Ruffalo and Hawk, and one other who I can't recall, spent the night and wee hours of the morning chasing fantasies and dreams, eventually at paddock lake at 2 am, swimming and racing boats across the lake, full of Pabst blue ribbon and Schlitz. somehow we managed to make it back to Kenosha by three. Fueled by beer Bill decided he wanted a new Pontiac and managed to drive one out through the plate glass front window of the Pontiac dealership on fourth Ave downtown. Such was Bill's alcohol clouded common sense. He and Hawk spent the next couple of days in the Kenosha jail: the rest of us had gotten out of Bill's car earlier and were "innocent". He was also one hell of a nine ball player, always talking a mile a minute and always for high stakes money, he feared no one at the pool table. Loved the guy.

We played basketball in the Saturday morning league, As you might imagine Bill played guard. I remembered Bill for his long range shots with a ton of reverse back spin.  Amazing!! Rest in peace. Jack MINSKI

First met Bill playing basketball in Jr High, I was always assigned to guard him! That's how we became friends.
