Veronica "Roni" Szeliga

July 10, 1943 - Oct. 23, 2023

KENOSHA - Veronica "Roni" Szeliga, 80, of Kenosha, died Monday, October 23, 2023 in her home peacefully. Born July 10, 1943, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Anne (Lazar) Szeliga.

A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School, Mary D. Bradford High School and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a Teaching degree.

She taught her entire career at Gateway Technical College and helped many students achieve success in the career of court reporting, stenography, closed captioning, and more. She was respected and honored by her peers.

Roni enjoyed travelling and had the pleasure of visiting parts of Europe right out of college, and later in life she visited China, Colonial Williamsburg, Wisconsin Dells, and the Everglades of Florida.

As an avid dog lover, she owned many dogs throughout the years: Fancy, Misty, Gaby, Katy, Glory, Diva, and Raine. She was an active member of the Kenosha Kennel Club and American Kennel Club. She was also involved in local tracking clubs for her dogs, and you could find her on many weekends laying a track or working her dogs to help them achieve their Champion certificates.

She also enjoyed gardening in her backyard and taking photos of her dogs and beautiful landscapes and scenery. You could always be sure that each year she would have an interesting Christmas photo of her dogs dressed up so she could use it for her Christmas cards.

She is survived by her brothe,r Michael Szeliga of Kenosha, and nephews: Steve and Brian.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 12:00 noon in the All Saints Catholic Cemetery Chapel. Visitation with the family will be on Saturday in the chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of services.

There will be a luncheon at Stella's Casa Capri,

I knew Veronica before Bradford. as we had both played clarinet in the CYO Band, along with her brother, Mike.  She was a treasured member of both, and it is heartening to read about the exemplary life that she led.
